CEO & President Dr. Sonya Bruton named to Montgomery County Workforce Development Board

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, AUG 18, 2022-The Workforce Development Board, first established in 2015, works to promote and broker effective relationships between the County Executive and economic, education, and workforce partners throughout the local area.

Most recently, the board advocated for Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich to offer funds to various workforce organizations throughout the county.

Bruton, a Montgomery County resident herself, is credited with keeping CCI open and financially stable during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She looks forward to learning more about countywide workforce development plans and informing workforce development priorities.

“I learned long ago that work and health are irreversibly intertwined,” said Bruton.  As a result, it is a great honor to address workforce needs from all sides of the readiness equation.”

“We know full financial recovery from COVID-19 depends upon all voices being at the table.”

Bruton will serve as a community-based organization representative. Her term began in early July and will run through September 2024.
