CCI Health & Wellness Services Announces Leadership Promotion

Former Development Director Jessica Wilson promoted to Chief Strategy Officer in June, will play an essential role in CCI’s growth and innovation.

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, August 24, 2021 – CCI Health & Wellness Services, one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in Maryland, formally announced today the promotion of Jessica Wilson to Chief Strategy Officer.

Wilson’s new role, which she began in June, will be integral to ushering in fresh strategic initiatives and driving organizational growth.

“Jessica’s remarkable track record with CCI thus far, combined with her commitment to improving the patient and employee experience, made her an obvious choice for the Chief Strategy Officer position,” said Dr. Sonya J. Bruton, President & CEO. “I am confident that through her leadership in this new role, our value will continue to rise.”

Wilson joined CCI in June 2014 as the organization’s Grants Manager. After two years in the position, she was promoted to Development Director, leading the department to the most successful years in the organization’s nearly five decades of operation.

“When Jessica first joined CCI, she was the only staff member in our development department, and we had a grant revenue of 7.6 million,” said Jose Luis Diaz, WIC Co-Director. “In the seven years since, she’s grown the department to six full-time staff members and nearly doubled our revenue. It’s a testament to her effective leadership skills and growth mindset.”

Aside from Wilson’s achievements in development, her experience and skillset proved pivotal to the implementation of several key programs for CCI, including the prenatal program, CenteringPregnancy initiative, and the annual Run Baby Run 5K event.

“I am very excited to be CCI’s new Chief Strategy Officer, especially on the cusp of our landmark 50th anniversary,” said Wilson. “From the incredible staff to the life-changing programs, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I look forward to continuing to help create access to high-quality health care for the communities we serve and advocating for greater health equity.”

Wilson graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2020, she completed the Geiger Gibson Health Policy Fellowship through the George Washington University School of Public Health. In 2021, she completed an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
