SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, NOVEMBER 7, 2023 – CCI Health Services (CCI) has been recognized as a National Quality Leader (NQL) in HIV Prevention and Care and earned a Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) badge from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA.) CCI was one of just nine health centers nationwide to receive the designation.

CHQR badges recognize Health Center Program awardees and look-alikes (LALs) that have made notable achievements in the areas of access, quality, health equity, health information technology, social risk factors screening, and COVID-19 public health emergency response using Uniform Data System (UDS) data from the most recent reporting period. HRSA first awarded CHQR badges in 2021 for the 2020 UDS reporting period.

This year’s recognition marks CCI’s third CHQR badge. In 2021, CCI received badges in Advancing HIT for Quality and COVID-19 testing. In 2022, CCI’s HIV program received the 2022 Solidarity for Health Equity Award from Montgomery County HIV/STI Services, recognizing the community health center’s efforts to end the HIV epidemic. In addition, CCI’s Infectious Disease Program Manager, Alexandrea McIntosh-Ogunfolu, was also recognized as a nominee for a Solidarity Health Equity Award.

CCI offers HIV/AIDS infectious disease care and management as part of its comprehensive health services model. Moreover, the community health center takes a proactive approach to ending HIV by providing resources, education, and relevant health services in the community.

In 2022, CCI completed over 9,500 HIV tests and coordinated several health events focusing on HIV prevention. CCI also launched its Know Your Status campaign to promote HIV testing by premiering two informational videos in English and Spanish.

“HRSA’s recognition of our work is a great honor that simply wouldn’t have been possible without our passionate infectious disease team,” said McIntosh-Ogunfolu. “Their dedication to providing our patients with the best care possible empowers us to reach and achieve greatness. We’ll continue to do everything we can to end the HIV epidemic.”
