Dr. Sonya Bruton to receive the 2022 Women Making History Award from the Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women for her significant contributions to the community.
SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, MARCH 9, 2022– CCI Health Services’ CEO Dr. Sonya Bruton, Psy.D, MPA to receive the 2022 Women Making History Award from the Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women. The award recognizes outstanding women in Montgomery County making significant contributions in their vocation and the community.
“Congratulations to the 31 outstanding women who are receiving this award for their invaluable contributions and selfless service to others,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “They have all made significant contributions in Montgomery County and shown exceptional leadership, serving as an inspiration.”
Under her leadership, CCI received a grant for the first teaching health center in the state, became one of the first health centers to administer the antiviral COVID treatment PAXLOVID, participated in the Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program and currently provides care for over 1,000 refugee families.
“I feel honored to be one of the hands creating this tapestry of care that ensures that everyone in the county shows up healthy and whole in the picture. The fact that my efforts have been recognized by the agencies supporting women in this county, adds fuel to my resolve to do more.” Said Dr. Bruton.
The nominees will be recognized during the Women Making History Panel on March 24th at 7 P.M via Zoom.
