SILVER SPRING, MD — CCI Health Services, a leading Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) delivering care to nearly 65,000 patients and participants in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, announced today that they have appointed former Centerpoint Health Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lorie Glenn as their new Chief Operating Officer (COO.)

Glenn succeeds Interim COO April Lewis of the April Lewis Academy, who has served in the role since April 2022. Glenn reports to CEO and President Dr. Sonya Bruton.

As CEO of Centerpoint Health for nine years, Glenn implemented a strategy that saw the organization grow from a startup community health center with modest grant funding and no patients to an award-winning FQHC serving 6,000 patients with four locations throughout southwest Ohio.

Under her leadership, Centerpoint expanded into new health services and launched innovative partnerships with local companies and state agencies. Lorie’s efforts would result in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recognizing the organization as a Health Care Quality Leader in October 2021.

“Lorie knows what it means to build a successful nonprofit health system from the ground up, and the institutional knowledge that comes from that experience is invaluable,” said Bruton. “She’s uniquely equipped to ensure our operations continue to thrive and help maintain our momentum. I have total confidence in Lorie and look forward to collaborating with her to empower our community.”

A registered nurse since 1998, Glenn has worked with several leading health organizations in her 25-year career, including the Indiana Primary Care Association, where she represented community health centers statewide and guided them on funding, helping them collectively secure more than $60 million for their programs along the way.

Glenn graduated with an M.A. in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine in 2013 and holds two bachelor’s degrees in nursing and public health from Indiana University.

“One of the reasons I joined CCI was because of the inclusiveness it provides to the community it serves. The CCI staff work hard to provide that safe space for everyone. It’s a great honor to be a part of this team,” said Glenn.

Glenn joins CCI after a milestone year for the organization, which included landmark outcomes in several services, the launch of a comprehensive community engagement program, and a yearlong 50th-anniversary celebration. More groundbreaking initiatives are forthcoming, such as the organization’s family medicine residency program, which will serve as Maryland’s first Teaching Health Center, and expanded health centers in Silver Spring and Greenbelt, the latter of which will feature an on-site pharmacy for patients.
