SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND, DECEMBER 2, 2022 – CCI Health Services (CCI), a Federally Qualified Health Center serving over 30,000 patients and participants annually throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, has been selected for a 2022 Solidarity for Health Equity Award by Montgomery County HIV/STI Services.

CCI was presented with the award at the second annual Solidarity for Health Equity Breakfast on December 1 at the Silver Spring Civic Building at 9:00 A.M., a date selected to commemorate World AIDS Day.

In addition to CCI’s recognition, CCI’s Infectious Disease Program Manager, Alexandrea McIntosh-Ogunfolu, was also recognized as a nominee for a Solidarity Health Equity Award.

“It is such an honor for us to be nominated for this award,” said McIntosh-Ogunfolu. “It just shows how we are changing lives in our community.”

The 2022 Solidary for Health Equity Breakfast serves as a part of Montgomery County’s overall plan to end the HIV epidemic by 2030 after being named a “priority jurisdiction” by the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative in 2019. Moreover, this year’s World AIDS Day marks two years since the public release of Montgomery County’s A Plan to End HIV in Montgomery County, which comprises strategies to reduce new HIV transmissions by 90% in the next ten years.

The Breakfast was co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Thera Sorority, Inc.

CCI offers HIV/AIDS infectious disease care and management as part of its comprehensive health services model. Moreover, the community health center takes a proactive approach to ending HIV by providing resources, education, and relevant health services in the community.

In the last year, CCI health centers in Montgomery County have conducted over 6,000 HIV tests and coordinated several health events offering on-site testing to anyone interested. In April, the organization launched its Know Your Status campaign to promote HIV testing by premiering two informational videos in English and Spanish.
