Are you a parent or caregiver returning to the workforce? Join CCI Health Services for our Back to Work Symposium! We will host a series of workshops on navigating the postpartum period, understanding your health coverage and benefits, and more. The event will conclude with a partner expo.

Session Descriptions:

Navigating Postpartum: Health, Mind & Body

Dr. Joi Gaddy Egbuniwe, Aastasshia Lacy, and Robin Sparer

The 12 weeks after giving birth, also known as the fourth trimester, is a time of significant physical and emotional change. As parents recover from childbirth and learn to care for their baby, they’re also expected to return back to work, often working at the same productivity level as before they took maternity leave. Join expert medical professionals for an engaging discussion on navigating postpartum beyond the initial 12 weeks.

Understanding Worker’s Rights: How to Make Your Benefits Work for You

Andrea Harris and JoseLuis Diaz

Unfortunately, the United States currently does not have a guaranteed paid maternity, paternity, or parental leave law at the national level. However, in the state of Maryland, there are benefit options expecting and current parents can take advantage of now. In this session, learn how to navigate and maximize these options for you and your family.

Embracing Your Journey and Returning Back to You

Dr. Sonya Bruton, Psy.D, MPA

As parents take on different roles and possibilities, they can often feel lost in their children. From playing taxi driver back and forth to activities to being an advocate and ensuring their child gets the care they need, a path to feeling “normal” again can seem impossible. In this interactive session, learn strategies on how to embrace your new parenthood journey and how to cultivate a support system that will help you meet your personal goals.
